Copenhagen food critic Rebecca Veinø Johansen reviewed the deli for KøbenhavnLiv two weeks after we opened on Jægersborggade. She arrived, in her own words, a confirmed tofu skeptic. She left having ordered three sandwiches.
I was skeptical, but the first bite knocked me off my feet.— Rebecca Veinø Johansen, KøbenhavnLiv
She started with the Thai Flatwrap — spinach, onion, bell pepper, coriander, and our Thai-marinated filling in a hot crispy pocket. Her first impression was that this was not going to be the short visit she'd planned.

Then the Mexi sandwich arrived — sourdough from Meyers Bageri across the street, our house salsa and creamy salsa dressing, pickled red onion, avocado, pickled chilies, and a generous layer of Mexi-marinated filling. She took one bite and, in her words, had to surrender.

Why has no one told me that tofu can taste like this?— Rebecca Veinø Johansen, KøbenhavnLiv
She kept going. A BBQ sandwich followed — smoked BBQ mayo, homemade chili-pickled cucumbers, our BBQ-marinated filling. "The first bite makes me think of a BBQ burger. It is so juicy and flavourful." By this point she'd taken her jacket off and admitted she no longer wanted to stop eating.

I came as a tofu-skeptic and left completely converted.— Rebecca Veinø Johansen, KøbenhavnLiv

Her verdict: "I have nothing to fault Sloppy Jo's at Jægersborggade 10, and they get all the stars I can throw at them." That's the kind of review you don't really get to ask for — and when it comes from someone who walked in planning to hate your hero ingredient, it means a bit more.
